Alessandra Rodrigues Kozovits
Alessandra R. Kozovits holds a bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasília and a PhD in Plant Ecophysiology from the Technische Universitat Munchen – Germany. She is an associate professor at the Federal University of Ouro Preto and holds a level 2 productivity scholarship. She works in the areas of Ecology of Ecosystems, Ecology and Plant Ecophysiology with emphasis on the following topics: ecology of seasonal ecosystems, nutrient cycling, plant responses to increased CO2, O3 and N, and heavy metals, and emission of trace gases from the soil to the atmosphere. She was coordinator of the postgraduate program in Ecology of Tropical Biomes between 2014 and 2015.
Alexandre de Siqueira Pinto
PhD in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2003). Adjunct Professor at Federal University of Sergipe. Experience in the field of Ecology, with emphasis on Ecosystem Ecology, working mainly on the following topics: land use change, biogeochemistry, soil carbon dynamics modeling, global environmental changes. One of the authors of Chapter 5 (Working Group I – Scientific Bases of Climate Change) of the First National Assessment Report of the Brazilian Panel on Climate Change, and author of chapter 11 (Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use – AFOLU) Report 5 – Working Group III (Mitigation of Climate Change) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Ana Paula Ferreira de Carvalho
She holds a degree in Agronomy Engineering from the University of Brasilia (1992), a master’s degree (1998) and a doctorate (2005) in Ecology from the University of Brasília. She has experience in the field of Ecology, with emphasis in Ecology, working mainly on the following subjects: remote sensing, spectral classification, hyperspectral, spectral mixing and aster.
Ariane de Almeida Rodrigues
Master student in Environmental Sciences at the University of Brasília. Specialist in Geoprocessing Applied to the Environment (2016) by the Institute of Geosciences, University of Brasilia. Graduated in Environmental Sciences (2014), with enphasis in Conservation and Use of Biodiversity, and in Law (2007), both by the University of Brasilia. Studied a year at Clemson University, USA (2012), as a graduate student sandwich. She is interested in research lines focused on biodiversity conservation, geoprocessing, ecosystem services and economic instruments for environmental conservation.
Arminda Moreira de Carvalho
She has graduated in Agronomy from the Federal University of Goiás (1986). Has completed master’s degrees in Soils and Plant Nutrition at the University of São Paulo – ESALQ (1990) and a PhD in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2005). She is a researcher at Embrapa Cerrados and co-supervisor at the Postgraduate Course in Agronomy – UnB. She is Scientific Editor of the Brazilian Horticulture Magazine (0102-0536) and is a reviewer of national and international journals. It has papers published in national and international indexed journals, with 19 articles published in National and International Indexed Magazines, in the last five years, in the following thematic lines: vegetal sediment decomposition, no-tillage system and cover plants, soil organic matter, cycling Of nutrients and carbon and nitrogen stocks, greenhouse gas emissions, climate change and integrated production systems. She is the coordinator of the Embrapa Network Project – Greenhouse Effect Dynamics and Carbon Balance in Grain Production Systems in the Cerrado. She is leader of the research group – Carbon Dynamics and Greenhouse Gases in Ecological Intensification Systems in the Closed Biome. She has more than 40 orientations, including IC, Ms, Dr. and post-doctoral supervision, with theses already defended under her guidance, with 1 defense in 2016. Coordinator of projects with 7 approved Capes-Embrapa scholarships In a postgraduate program in Agronomy-UnB.
Catarina Rocha Garofalo Pinto
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasília (1996) and a Masters in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2001). She is currently a professor at Faciplac, in the Pharmacy course. She has experience in Ecology, with emphasis in Plant Ecology, working mainly in the Cerrado theme, and in the Plant Morphology area, working in Pharmacobotany.
Davi de Lacerda Ramos
Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences (2014) and licentiated degree from the Special Program for Pedagogical Training – PROFORM (2015), both from the Catholic University of Brasilia. He develops research about pollination ecology in agricultural systems inserted in the Cerrado domain. Currently is a master student in the Department of Ecology at the University of Brasilia, with a research project to evaluate the importance of pollination services for common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) production and how agricultural fertilization and landscape characteristics affect that ecological service. This work is being done under the guidance of Dr. Luisa G. Carvalheiro and co-guidance of Dr. Mercedes Bustamante.
Eddie Lenza de Oliveira
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Uberlândia (1997), a Masters in Ecology from the University of Brasília (1999) and a PhD in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2005). He is currently an adjunct professor of the Biological Sciences Course, and coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Ecology and Conservation of the State University of Mato Grosso, Nova Xavantina Campus. He has experience in the area of plant ecology, with emphasis on ecology of Cerrado plant communities and transition areas between the Cerrado and the Amazon Forest, working in the following research lines: floristic, phytosociology, phytogeography, conservation and phenology.
Eloisa Aparecida Belleza Ferreira
She holds a degree in Agronomy Engineering – University of Brasília – UnB / Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (1999), Master in Agronomy – UnB / Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (2002) and Doctorate in Ecology – UnB (2013). She is currently a researcher – Embrapa Cerrados, working mainly on the following topics: soil and water management and conservation, soil organic matter and modeling of biogeochemical cycles of carbon and nitrogen.
Êrika Barretto Fernandes Cruvinel
She holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (1994), a Master’s Degree in Botany from the Federal University of Bahia (1999) and a PhD in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2008). She is currently a professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Brasilia. Has experience in the area of Botany and Ecology. She works mainly in the following subjects: Cerrado, environmental impacts, biogeochemistry, familiar agriculture and studies of the relation between person and environment. As an educator she works in Popular Education, Environmental Education, Professional Education, Biocentric Education, Prison Education and Perinatal Education, and vocational / professional orientation based on the dialogical-experiential approach.
Everaldo de Carvalho Conceição Telles
Agronomy Engineer by University of São Paulo (1993), Master’s Degree in Agronomic Engineering – Soils and Plant Nutrition – Genesis and Soil Morphology (ESALQ) at the University of São Paulo (1997) and PhD at the University of São Paulo (2002) – Sciences – Nuclear Energy in Agriculture, Post Doc in Ecology and Geotechnologies (UnB) and Post Doc in the Regional Center of Nuclear Sciences of the Center West – National Nuclear Energy Commission (CRCN-CO-CNEN) in the areas of Radioisotope Ecology – Hydrogeology. He taught as a lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pedology, Agropedology-Geology, Ecology, Geographic Information System, Chemistry, Geoprocessing and Biophysical Environment Studies in the Interaction of Soil- Climate-Vegetation-Atmosphere, in the courses of Agronomic Engineering, Geography and Field Education in the graduation and specializations of Environmental Education and Rural Development, Agroecology and Sustainable Development in the Amazon and Field Education (Saberes da Terra). Fábio dos Santos Miranda
He holds a degree in Forestry Engineering from the University of Brasília – UnB, Specialization in Teaching of Higher Education from the Universidade Estácio de Sá and a Masters in Ecology from UnB. He has a background in Environmental Education from the School of Nature – Secretary of State for Education of the Federal District, working on projects related to the subject in public schools. He also have experience in the area of germination and production of native seedlings of the Cerrado biome, as well as in projects for the recovery of degraded areas.
Felipe Eduardo Brandão Lenti
Biologist (2011) and Master in Ecology (2014) from the University of Brasília (UnB). My dissertation dealt with the relationships between physical environmental factors and the architecture, functioning and distribution of arboreal individuals in a savanna ecosystem in the Federal District, Brazil. I currently contribute to research on dynamics of land use, deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions in Brazil, with focus on the Cerrado domain. I recently studied the costs of ecological restoration on a national scale, considering several techniques in all Brazilian biomes. My previous experiences are working with methodologies to estimate avoided greenhouse gases emissions and carbon dioxide removals associated with community based projects, also collecting, systematizing, analyzing and interpreting ecological data – both biotic (flora) and abiotic (soil, water and topography) –, and communicating scientific knowledge. My current interests are: landscape ecology, ecosystem ecology, applied ecology, climate change and ecological restoration.
Flávia Aparecida de Alcântara
Graduated in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal University of Uberlândia (1995), with a master’s degree in Soil Science from the Federal University of Lavras (1998) and a PhD in Soil Science from the Federal University of Lavras, Sandwich modality / Capes (University of Wageningen, (2002). She is a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (from 2004 to 2010 at Embrapa Hortaliças and from 2011 until now at Embrapa Rice and Beans). She has experience in the areas of Soil Fertility and Agroecology, working mainly on the following topics: organic fertilization, green manuring, soil management, familiar agriculture, participatory research and urban and peri-urban agriculture. She is currently P&D coordinator of the Research and Transfer Group in Agroecology and manager of the Agroecological Farm of Embrapa Rice and Beans.
Frederico Scherr Caldeira Takahashi
Bachelor in Biological Sciences (emphasis in Botany) by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2003), Master in Biological Sciences (emphasis in Botany) by the National Research Institute of the Amazon (2005), PhD in Ecology by the University of Brasília (2010) and (CAPES / PNPD) held at the Department of Ecology of the University of Brasília (2010-2014). Has experience in Ecology, Biostatistics and Botany (emphasis in Plant Ecophysiology). He has developed research activities in the following subjects: light utilization by understory trees in the Amazon, interactions of cerrado vegetation with the physical environment, light stress, limiting factors for establishment of gallery forest species in savanna areas, photosynthesis of species Native, analytical strategies for ecological data.
Gabriela Bielefeld Nardoto
Biologis (UnB 1997), master’s degree in Ecology (UnB 2000), doctorate in Applied Ecology (USP 2005) and postdoctoral degree by CENA / USP (2008). PNPD / CAPES Scholarship (PPG-Ecologia / UnB 2010). Current Position: Adjunct Professor III – Department of Ecology, Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Brasília. Permanent member of the PPG-Ecology / UnB and PPG-Environmental Sciences / UnB. Experience in the area of Ecology of Ecosystems, working on the following topics: tropical forests and savannas; Use of stable isotopes of carbon and nitrogen in environmental studies; And in the area of Applied Ecology, working in the area of Forensic Sciences using the isotopic methodology.
Gabriela Teixeira Rodrigues Lira
Graduated in two qualifications (Licentiate and Bachelor’s degree) in the Biological Sciences course at the University of Brasília (UnB) in 2008 and 2009, and a Master’s degree in Ecology from the University of Brasília (UnB) in 2012. Experience in Ecology, with emphasis on Ecology of Ecosystems and Fire Ecology in the Cerrado. I also have experience in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. Currently, I work in the governmental sphere as environmental analyst of the Ministry of the Environment – MMA, in the coordination of projects of an environmental nature of national extension, but related to international affairs. It deals directly with the licensing and regulation institute, IBAMA, and with implementing agencies of the approved projects, such as UNDP, UN and GIZ (German Agency).

She is currently an Analyst of Laboratory Management at Embrapa Instrumentação (São Carlos / SP), working in the following areas: Environmental and Food Microbiology; Antimicrobial Assays; Films for coating of fruit; Liquid and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and Management of common and hazardous waste.
Joice Nunes Ferreira
I am a biologist, researcher at Embrapa Western Amazon, in Belém (Pará), with a master’s and doctorate degree in Ecology, with emphasis on Ecology of Communities and Ecosystems. My research focuses on the interface between land uses, agricultural practices and the provision of environmental services in the Amazon region, particularly changes in carbon stocks, biodiversity and soil conservation. I have conducted research under a socioecological systems approach. I work as a professor of the Post-Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences and of the Graduate Program in Ecology, both at the Federal University of Pará.
Júlia Zanin Shimbo
She holds a degree in Ecology and a Masters in Geosciences from the State University of São Paulo(UNESP / Rio Claro). PhD in Ecology from the University of Brasília (UnB), with a sandwich modality doctorate from the University of New Hampshire (UNH), USA. She was a DTI-A / CNPq Fellow of the project National Inventory of Anthropogenic Greenhouse Gas Emissions by the Climate Network and postdoctoral / CNPq at the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM), where she is currently a researcher. She has experience in the areas of Geoenvironmental Zoning, Environmental Policies, Remote Sensing and Applied Ecology, working mainly on Land Use Change, Ecology of Ecosystems and Tropical Forests.
Julio Carlos Franca Resende
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Uberlândia (1995), a Master’s degree in Ecology from the University of Brasilia (1997) and a PhD in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2001). He is currently a legislative consultant – Legislative Chamber of the Federal District. Has experience in the field of Ecology, with emphasis on Biogeochemistry and Nutrient Cycle.

He has experience in Botany and Plant Ecology, working mainly on the following topics: Atlantic forest, nebular forest, altitude fields, floristic, phytosociology, phytogeography, community ecology, species distribution modeling and quaternary climate change.
Lucas Evangelista Gonçalves
He holds a degree in Biological Sciences (Licentiate and Bachelor’s degree) from the University of Brasília (2009) and a Masters in Ecology from the University of Brasilia (2012), focusing on ecosystem ecology and cerrado biogeochemistry. He has more than 3 years of experience as a teacher, having worked at the fundamental, high school and undergraduate education. He is currently a substitute professor at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Goiás on the campus of Formosa-GO in the technical courses integrated to high school environmental sanitation and biotechnology and bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.
Lucilia Maria Parron
She is PhD in Ecology from Ecosystems by the University of Brasília (2004), a Masters in Population Ecology from the University of Brasilia (1992) and a degree in Biological Sciences (1986). She is a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, at the Embrapa Forests Unit. She has experience in the field of Ecology, with emphasis in Ecology of Ecosystems and Biogeochemistry, working mainly in the following subjects: hydrochemistry, biogeochemical cycles, evaluation of environmental indicators and evaluation of indicators of environmental services.
Lucíola Santos Lannes
Lucíola Santos Lannes graduated in Biosciences at Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense (UENF) in 2002, where she also completed her master’s degree in Biosciences and Biotechnology with an emphasis in Environmental Sciences in 2004. During her undergraduate and masters degree, she studied limnological And geochemistry of water bodies located in an urban area under intense impact due to the deposition of domestic waste and evaluated the effect of the aquatic macrophyte Typha domingensis on the dynamics of phosphorus and nitrogen in built floods. Between 2003 and 2006 she was a professor in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at public and private universities in the state of Rio de Janeiro. From 2008 to 2012 he has a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich). Her thesis aimed to contribute to the knowledge about the influence of enrichment by nitrogen, phosphorus and other nutrients, as well as ecological stoichiometry on the loss of plant species and the invasion of exotic plants in herbaceous plant communities of the Brazilian Cerrado. She is currently an assistant professor at Unesp in Ilha Solteira in the area of Ecology and Biodiversity.
Lurdineide de Araújo Barbosa Borges
Agronomic Engineer at the Federal University of Goiás – UFG (2007), Master in Agronomy at the University of Brasília – UnB (2010), in the area of concentration: Soil and Water Management and Environmental Quality. PhD in agronomy from the Federal University of Goiás (2013), in the Soil and Water concentration area. Post-doctorate at the Ecosystems Laboratory of the University of Brasília – UnB, where she developed work in the area of Carbon and Nitrogen modeling in the soil, through the Century Model, in areas of Cerrado cultivated with sugarcane. She is currently developing postdoctoral research at the Department of Biogology, University Central Florida – UCF, United States. The research is related to the modeling of soil carbon dynamics in a reforestation area located at Disney Wilderness Preserve, Florida, USA.
Pablo Aguiar Saboya
Agronomist (2011) and Master in Ecology (2014) by the University of Brasília. During the master’s degree he worked on a research project on the functional diversity of leaf attributes in native tree species of the Cerrado. During graduation he focused on the understanding of agroecology, worked in rural extension projects and research with agroecological-based production systems. Experiment in botany, working on a research project on the germination and initial growth of native Cerrado tree species. Experience in geographic information system (GIS), working with the mapping of land use and land cover in the region of Chapada dos Veadeiros using satellite images.
Pedro Luiz Simpson Júnior
Has a degree in Economics from the União Educacional de Brasília (1999) and a master’s degree in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2002). Acting mainly on the following topics: Cerrado, fertilization, woody, phenology, dendrometry and water relations.
Rafael Rodrigues Alves Dias
He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasília (2007). Master in Ecology from the University of Brasilia (2010). He is currently a federal public servant, occupying the position of Biologist in the Department of Botany of the University of Brasilia.
Sabrina do Couto de Miranda
Graduated in Biological Sciences from the State University of Goiás (UEG), she is a specialist in Plant Biology from UEG, a Master’s Degree in Botany from the University of Brasília (UnB) and a Doctor of Ecology from UnB. Has experience in floristic, phytosociological and ecological studies focusing on the analysis of the carbon stock in savanna formations of the Cerrado. Currently, she is also dedicated to research in the area of teacher training through involvement with the Institutional Program of the Initiation to Teaching Grant (PIBID / CAPES) and a link with the Professional Master’s Degree in Science Teaching at UEG-Anápolis (http: // Www.ppec.ueg.br). She is an associate professor at the LAPIG-UFG (Laboratory of Image Processing and Geoprocessing) where she develops research projects and co-directs PhD students.
Samia Gomes
Bachelor in Biological Sciences at the University of Brasília (UnB) in 2014. Trainee at Embrapa Cenargen (2010 – 2011). Scholarship for Scientific Initiation (PIBIC) by CNPq in 2011-2012. Scholarship for the Science without Borders program at the Université de Rouen, France (2012-2013), where she completed Master 1 in Genetics, Immunology and Cancer. Trainee at the INSERM U1096 laboratory at the Université de Rouen in 2013. Trainee at the Maristella Oliveira de Azevedo Laboratory at UnB (2013 – 2014). Expertise in molecular biology, with emphasis on gene expression studies and miRNAs, immunology and microbiology. She is currently working on the project Mejor uso de la gestión del conocimiento y resultados de investigación en proyectos de Ecosalud from the Center for Sustainable Development of UnB and she is technical of the Laboratory of Ecosystems of UnB, working on the project Interactions between woody diversity and soil microorganisms and Nutrient cycling in the Cerrado.
Simone Kuster Mitre
Bachelor in Biological Sciences (UFOP-MG), Master in Ecology (UnB-DF) and PhD in Ecology, Conservation and Wildlife Management (UFMG-MG). She is currently postdoctoral fellow at the Technological Institute Vale – Sustainable Development, in the area of “Environmental Recovery”. She has experience in Ecosystem Ecology with emphasis on Nutrient Cycle, Ecology of Riparian Environments and Degraded Areas.
Viviane Teixeira de Miranda
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Earth of Brasília (2004) and a Masters in Ecology of Tropical Biomes by the Federal University of Ouro Preto (2009). She has experience in the area of Sanitary Engineering, with emphasis on Air, Water and Soil Quality, working mainly on the following topics: land use change, cerrado, water quality and hydrographic basins. Agronomist (Federal University of Goiás – 2000), Master in Plant Production (Federal University of Goiás – 2003) and PhD in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2009). He has experience in Ecology, with emphasis on plant ecology, ecology of agroecosystems, soil-plant relationship and mineral nutrition of native woody species of the Cerrado, working mainly on the following topics: Cerrado, biogeochemistry, vegetal ecology, soil-plant relationship, nutrition Mineral and ecology of polyphenols. He is currently associate professor IV at the University of Brasília (Campus UnB Planaltina), professor of the Postgraduate Program in Environment and Rural Development (UnB Planaltina) and professor collaborator in the Postgraduate Program in Agroecosystems of the Federal University of Santa Catarina.
